Mixoloco - Mixology Tips:

  • Choosing the Right Bourbon: Selecting the right bourbon whiskey is essential for a delicious Mint Julep. Opt for a high-quality bourbon with a smooth and balanced flavor profile.

  • Muddling Technique: When muddling the mint leaves, be gentle to avoid bruising them, which can result in a bitter taste. Lightly pressing and twisting the mint leaves releases their aromatic oils without overpowering the drink.

  • Crushed Ice Quality: The texture and consistency of the crushed ice play a crucial role in the Mint Julep's overall experience. Aim for finely crushed ice that packs well into the glass, providing optimal chilling and dilution.

  • Garnish with Fresh Mint: A fresh mint sprig not only adds visual appeal to the Mint Julep but also enhances its aroma with each sip. Slap the mint sprig between your hands before garnishing to release its aromatic oils. It intensifies the mint aroma and adds an extra layer of freshness to the drink.
